Maneuvering through the bottleneck caused by a broken water main, James tapped impatiently on the steering wheel while they crawled through the traffic struggled to navigate down the flooded street of the downtown core. Beyond the solid mass of idling traffic, the lights of emergency vehicles flashed about a block ahead. Pedestrians and cyclists darting through the standstill added to the confusion.
Kathryn sighed and glanced at the dashboard clock, dismally watching another minute flash by.
